What is MusicDating?

We believe we are the first online dating website for music lovers of all genres.  Our aim is that you can find fans of any band, no matter how obscure!

How much is it to register?

Everything on the site is completely FREE and it is very easy to register.  Once you complete the short form, we’ll send you an activation email (please check to see if it goes to your spam folder!), and you can then complete your Profile.  Remember, the more information about your musical tastes on your profile, the more likely someone is to view it.

What can I do on your site?

We currently offer - 

• A ‘tag search’ so that you can easily find users who have included that popular word in their Profile
• A 'Wink' function, so you can flirt with other users
• A free text Advanced Search, which will return users who have listed any word in their Profile
• A calendar so that you can manage your social diary by flagging the events you are attending.  You can also add your own events
• Your own Profile Gallery to upload your photos
• Your own Blog, so you can write reviews on music you've listened to or gigs you've attended
• Ability to link to and comment on videos from the web and to select your favourites
• Add other users as High-Fivers!
  

When I search for my favourite band, no results are returned.  How many users do you have??

It could be that you're the first person to register who likes that band.  This is actually good news for you, as when another person registers and searches for your band, your profile will be returned first.  New users are registering all the time, and as we're free, you can come back as often as you like to check out the new registrations!

You've sent me an email saying I'd received a Private Message, but when I logged in, there wasn't one!

We closely monitor the site for 'spam' registrations and delete them as soon as we spot them.  As soon as they are deleted, their Private Messages  (PMs) are also deleted, but sometimes the email notification of a PM has already been sent.  If you do see a PM which is claiming to transfer millions ofDollars from a foreign country, or any user trying to blackmail you emotionally with their stories about the death of a relative, please report the Profile to us using the Moderation > Report User link on their profile page, or by emailing us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .   

How do I add my own Event?

To upload a new Event, login and select 'Post Events', and you should see the 'Add Gig' template. This page allows you up 'Add New Band', 'Add New Venue' and 'Add New Category' (if necessary).

You should be able to Edit any Events you've already uploaded by selecting My Events.

To Add an Event to 'Events Attending' select the Event and click 'I'm There!'

How do I link a YouTube video?

Log in and click on the ‘Videos’ menu.  Then select ‘Upload’ and then ‘Add YouTube Video’.  Our page then describes how to embed the code from YouTube.  You select your Category and Sharing Options and then click the ‘Add’ button.

What is a High-Fiver?!

A High-Fiver is our version of a ‘friend’.  You can ask someone to be your High-Fiver (they will be asked to approve your request), by selecting the ‘Request High-Fivers’ option from their Profile. This should be someone you like or feel you have a lot in common with.  MusicDating isn’t a competition to have the most ‘friends’!

Can I email another user?

All users email address remain confidential and we recommend that you use the Private Message functionality should you wish to contact another user. 

This works in the same way as email, but helps protect your information until such time you want to share it.  Please see our ‘Sound Advice’ section for other safety hints and tips.

How do I know my information is safe with you?!

We're fully registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a Data Controller (register entry ref Z9766193) meaning we adhere to the Data Protection Act and look after your information in accordance with our Terms and Conditions.

How can I cancel my account?

Simply drop us a mail on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we'll delete your profile.  Of course, we'd be sorry to see you leave and hope the reason was that you'd found that someone special!
